Here’s something to really think about…

“Please let my lord go on ahead before his servant. I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, are able to endure, until I come to my lord in Seir.”  Genesis 33: 14

What a gesture of love Jacob had for his children!  He had traveled the same wilderness journey years before, and he personally knew how rough and violent the terrain was.  Jacob knew his kids and his livestock couldn’t make the journey without taking rests.  They required a much slower pace, and he knew just how far and how much they could handle in a day.  He wouldn’t lead them in a pace a strong man like Esau could keep, nor did he expect them to keep up.

Can’t the same thing be said of our Heavenly Father?  We get surprised and taken aback by our circumstances.  But our Lord Jesus knows the way!  Just like Jacob knew what his children could handle, Jesus knows every step of our journey!  He’s familiar with the very things that seem to take our  breath away.  He knows the rocky terrain that makes our feet ache-even bleed.  So be encouraged… the next time you think you can’t take another step, He will either strengthen you or command the raging sea to be still.
