False_security_webAre you a pretender?  That’s right, are you the genuine bride?  Do you just give God lip-service?  Today I want to address false security in salvation.  But first let me say that I write this out of the love I have for my sisters and brothers in Christ.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,  for correction,  for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  2 Timothy 3:16-17

Pricilla and Aquila took Apollos aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.  He joyfully accepted the correction and then went on to become a great teacher (Acts 18:26).  Just like the religious leaders got angry when Jesus rebuked and tried to correct them, counterfeit believers also get angry.  The first objection they will give you is, “So you’re judging me!”  Just like the Pharisees, they cannot see that they’re bound by sin.  There is no separation from the world, no separation from their old life.  They’re told that they are born again.  They’re told that they are believers.  They believe a lie… a lie that gives them false security. They’ll say, “But we love God.  We aren’t doing anything evil.  We’re being directed by God.”  Jesus turns the tables, and plainly tells those self-righteous Pharisees who they’re truly listening to…

“You do the deeds of your father.” Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father–God.”  Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. “Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.

You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”  John 8:41-44

Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word.” – This is the heartbreak of anyone who preaches the truth!  Jesus was speaking to the religious leaders when He said this, and we can also say this to some “believers” today.  Idolatry runs rampant.  Outside influences are out of control; should I _________ (fill in the blank) or spend time with Jesus?

The church of Jesus Christ today is infiltrated with false teaching.  There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing.  You need to be aware of false teachers, and always be on guard.
