“Be still, and know I am God!” Psalm 46:10

You want me to be still and do what? Wait? Why is this taking so long? Why are YOU taking so long? Surely, I should be doing something! Am I supposed to be doing something? You say if we keep knocking, the door will be opened. You instruct us to keep asking, and assure us we will receive what we ask for. You give us Your Word that we will find if we keep seeking (Matthew 7: 7-8)…

Well I’m asking, knocking, and seeking… but I don’t see anything happening! So what gives? Exhaustion is setting in, God! Depression is setting in! I’ve seen people just throw in the towel and give up. They conclude that You cannot be found. All that is within me says the opposite! I have voices telling me all things contrary to what I read in Your Holy Word. But I know You said that Your sheep will never listen to a stranger’s voice. You call Your sheep by name. We follow You because we know Your voice. I love the way You communicate and confirm things with me! You know exactly what I need to hear!

Today in my devotional, I read that “Sitting still–doing nothing except trusting in the Lord, causes a feeling of uncertainty, and there is often a tremendous temptation to take the battle into your own hands.” Amen to that. Lord Jesus, I simply marvel at Your Sovereignty and Omnipotence! You cleverly told me that fighting my battles, when I insist on trying to fight them myself is equally difficult as a drowning person is trying to help his rescuer. God, I heard You loud and clear… my interference hinders Your work!!

You also stressed that it takes time to answer prayer! You told me to think about a strong Oak tree— How over time, the stormy weather causes the roots to sink deeper and firmer into the soil. So it is that way with You and I. I am strong in You because of the wind and the waves!

And to top things off… Our DVD from Netflix came in the mail today. It’s a Christian movie titled, “Stand Still!”

You are so awesome God!!
