As you read, think of how awesome and powerful Almighty God is! He is the Alpha, the Omega…the beginning and the end! He is the very same God who spoke the world into existence, Creator of everything thing we see! He placed the stars in the sky, and knows each one by name! Indescribable! All powerful! Yet He is the same God who came down from heaven…He exchanged eternal riches and royal splendor, for poverty…and took on human flesh, TO PAY OUR DEBT AND SHOW US THE WAY BACK TO HIM!
Not long ago I was talking to a friend. Our conversation was about how we can get so desensitized and lose sight of how great God truly is. We get so consumed with our lives and our “stuff,” that sometimes, even though we truly love God… He can get put on the back burner.
“…and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary. Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.” Revelation 2: 3-4
Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12: 29-31
God’s laws are not burdensome. Jesus gives us two commandments that summarize everything. If we let them rule our thoughts, decisions, and actions…we can really and truly speak to the world by demonstrating God’s love, which speaks volumes!
