Last night as I was praying, I was led to open my Bible to a certain book and chapter. It simply amazes me…God already knows what we’re going to say to Him before we even open our mouths. 2 Corinthians Chapter 7 was so relevant to what I was praying…I believe it was God verifying some things, and I also believe it was much needed encouragement from a heavenly perspective. I want to share this scripture with you. But first, think of something that has happened in your life…something that has caused you great pain and sorrow. Perhaps you are going through a really tough time now. So tough, that maybe you are questioning God’s love for you, or maybe it’s gone so far…you’re even questioning His existence.
This is for you…

“Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have. So you were not harmed by us in anyway. For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.” 2 Corinthians 7: 9-10

Paul wrote this letter to the Corinthians because he had sent an earlier letter to them that caused people to change. But I’m taking this scripture as a Rhema word. A Rhema word is best defined as a word that applies to you personally (read my post on Faithfullness… it will describe Rhema vs. Logos).

Godly sorrow results in changed behavior. Of course sorrow can also result in bitterness and hatred of God. We can compare Peter’s remorse and repentance with Judas’ bitterness. Both denied Christ. One repented and was restored to faith and service; the other took his own life.

“Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such a readiness to punish wrong.” 2 Corinthians 7: 11

If you’re in the midst of something sorrowful… Hold on! Please know that I’m standing alongside of you in faith!

Have a great day:)
