Are there times when you get down in the dumps? I mean…really down…really depressed? Contrary to popular belief, christians DO get depressed. But we do have a way out.

God knows. It just amazes me…that whenever I feel down, it never fails…I end up reading something, talking with someone, hearing a song, or whatever God uses as His vessel to get me back on track. Let me tell you what happened to me recently…

I was feeling really low about my physical limitations and having a pity party, I was just feeling “restless” (you probably can relate, trials and tribulations come in all forms; not just physically).
Anyway, I reluctantly dragged myself out of bed. My thoughts were, “why even bother getting out of bed, everything seems ok when I’m sleeping?”

I got a cup of coffee, and was just sitting at my dining room table feeling sorry for myself. I was in a funk. A bad funk. My “Streams in the Desert” devotional happened to catch my eye, so I opened it. Guess what that day’s devotion was about? It was about Peter walking on the water towards Jesus. Peter panicked, and turned his focus onto the waves and the dangerous storm…he took his eyes off Jesus, and he started sinking.

God used that simple reminder to lift me out of my depression. I have to keep my eyes on Jesus ONLY. Isaiah 26:3 says if we keep our thoughts and focus on God, He will keep us in perfect peace.
