“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under Heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

This scripture is written on a very pretty plaque that sits on the breakfront in my dining room. I sit at the dining room table each morning… starting my day with prayer, reading my “Streams in the Desert” devotional, reading God’s Word, and putting together each days’ post for this blog…Oh! And always, ALWAYS with coffee!

I love this scripture verse! It tells us that God has a plan for every one of us. We can be confident in that whatever happens to be going on in our lives, is only going to last for a season. But what’s the definition of a season? How long? God tells us that there is a time limit on every situation or circumstance that touches us. But here’s the hard thing… it’s all designated by God. The waiting is so very difficult – every experience we have is appropriate at certain times. God’s timing is important. Each experience teaches us something or prepares us for something only He knows about, and will be revealed… in His time.

“What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again.”
Ecclesiastes 3: 14

Many times we’re tempted to think that whatever is going on, or whatever situation we’re in… ‘Nobody understands’…’I’m all alone in this’… these are lies from the pit! Maybe your thinking, “If they only could feel what I am going through”… Yeah, I would think these things pretty often…especially in the midst of this rare, “I’m the first person to ever experience this,” disease. But over time, and the renewing of my mind with the Word of God, I’ve learned to take out my sword and slash those thoughts. Remember…

“For the Word of God is alive and powerful! It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12
I’ve found that the secret to peace with God is to discover, accept and appreciate God’s timing. Doubting or resenting God’s timing can take you into dangerous territory…despair, anxiety, and depression. Ask me… I’ve been there and it’s no fun!

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, whose thoughts are fixed on you.” Isaiah 26: 3
