So Daniel went off to see the king, and tell him his dream…

The king said to Daniel, “Is this true? Can you tell me what my dream was and what it means?”

Daniel replied, “There are no wise men, enchanters, magicians, or fortune tellers who can reveal the king’s secret. But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has shown King Nebby what will happen in the future. Now I will tell you your dream and the visions you saw as you lay on your bed.

While Your Majesty was sleeping, you dreamed about coming events. He who reveals secrets has shown you what is going to happen. And it is not because I am wiser than anyone else that I know the secret of your dream, but because God wants you to understand what was in your heart.” Daniel 2: 26-30

The first thing Daniel does is give glory to God, not to himself. Daniel began to tell and interpret King Nebby’s dream…

In his dream, King Nebby saw a huge statue of a man with four parts of the body being represented by different metals. Each metal represents four world powers. The head was gold, and it represented the Babylonian Empire (606 B.C. – 539 B.C.). The chest and arms of the statue were made of silver, which represented the Medo-Persian Empire (539 B. C. – 331 B.C.). The bronze belly and thighs represented the Grecian Empire (331 B. C. – 146 B.C.). Lastly, the Iron and Clay feet represent the Roman Empire 146 B.C. – A.D. 476).

The most frightening part of the dream is when a rock, cut from the side of a mountain (but not by human hands), struck the feet of the statue and smashed it to pieces! And then, the wind came and blew all of those pieces away until there was no trace of them. That rock became a great mountain that covered the earth.

That rock would be Jesus! After all that was said and done,King Nebby honored Daniel and Daniel’s God.

“Truly, your God is the greatest of Gods, the Lord over kings, a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able reveal this secret.” Daniel 2: 47
