I can’t even pretend to be a scholar, but I am willing to share what’s in my heart with you;I can share the things I’ve learned over the last seven years I’ve been walking with the Lord.
It’s truly just as The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1:4, “He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” … That is precisely what I plan on doing.
In my “What’s all this ‘born again’ stuff…” post, someone asked, “Isn’t there more to being born again? How does that relate to being saved?”
I studied the words “born”, and “again”. Without getting too deep, the Greek word for born is “gennao”, which means …imparting spiritual life – not physical life. The Greek word for again is “agennao”, which means …from above.
*The reason we study the Greek meaning is because Greek was the universal language spoken when the Bible was first written. The authors of The Bible needed to translate their Hebrew words into Greek in order for God’s message to be understood by the masses.
And then there is the scripture verse in Joel 2:32, “Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” The word we really want to pay attention to is “call”. Does this mean that all we have to do to be saved is to recite God’s name or summon His aid? Well, “call” is derived from the Greek root “kaleo”, which means…to invite; the Vines Bible Dictionary says it is used particularly of the divine call to partake of the blessings of redemption. Let’s also look at Romans 8:30, “And having called them, He gave them right standing with Himself”.
I can say…beyond the shadow of a doubt…I know for certain…to be in right standing with God, is to accept the gift of His Son, and when you do…”Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
My Bible commentary says it like this: “Not only are believers changed from within, but a whole new order of creative energy begins with Christ.”
