I’m sitting here thinking about wisdom. Last night, in my support group for those with chronic illness, we were discussing wisdom…how do we acquire it?
We weren’t talking about intellectual wisdom, technological wisdom, scientific wisdom…if you remember King Solomon and his wisdom…that’s the kind of wisdom we were talking about.
Well, the first thing that popped in my mind was Proverbs 1, “The beginning of wisdom is fear of the Lord”
At this very moment, I’m thinking of the TV show, “Everybody Loves Raymond”…you know the part when Raymond’s mom reads this…and Raymond thinks to fear the Lord means to be afraid, to be very afraid…the audience of course, laughs. But I’m wondering, do most people truly know what “to fear the Lord means?
It means to stand in awe of God; to hold Him in reverence; to follow His ways…When we really think and reflect upon all we have, what we’ve gone through, what we’ve learned, how things always seem to work out, all the good that has come out of the bad…it just blows my mind how awesome God is.
I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and He tells me…He tells all those who fear Him, to simply ask for wisdom, and He will freely give it. That’s simple, but it’s so profound!
